You're the second person to say that to me - manifested. Seems like for most people it shows up on its own.
It didn't, for me. I used my Evoker - the item I was carrying with me that looked like a gun - to summon it the first time. I was given that as part of the group I joined.
Three years, give or take. I've been experiencing the Dark Hour for a while longer than that.
[ Realizing everyone around him was turning into coffins, that for an hour the world went strange and green - he felt like he was going insane while being so sure he was experiencing it. ]
As far as I know, we're the only ones with personas and thus the only ones who can actually fight the Shadows. The adults that experience the Dark Hour don't seem to have the full potential for a Persona.
[ Although with Ikutsuki's betrayal, he wonders how much of that is true. He knows Kirijo-san wouldn't have lied, because there's no way he would have let Mitsuru fight if he could have done it instead. ]
[ There's no 'Dark Hour'. The Metaverse will pull people in without question. Distorted adults are the prime candidates for palaces and Maruki can wield a persona.
They're from different worlds, more than likely, however similar they seem on the surface. That solves one issue and shakes that research team theory from his mind. Shido isn't involved, more than likely. ]
There are notable similarities and differences between our experiences.
Persona manifestations are rare in my world, but not limited to specific ages. I also call the enemies inside the Metaverse, your Dark Hour perhaps, shadows.
This may be a touchy question, but I must ask - do you always need the gun to summon it?
[ Intel for intel is an easy give and take. He's learning far more about this bizarre variation in the Metaverse from Akihiko.
But- ]
The Metaverse is-
I can't say for certain.
[ Giving a little, a hint, a small taste - that's what he's used to doing. He'll continue on that path, as if he's trickling intel into a vigilante groupchat. ]
Forgive me, but while I'm a user, that world is mysterious and largely unknown. While I can make assumptions based on personal experience, it's nothing without data to back it up and I hesitate to claim something is a fact.
But if you're to ask my personal opinion-
Yes, it likely exists at all hours, even if some are left unaware of its presence their whole lives.
[ He reads the words on the screen, vaguely reminded of talking to Mitsuru; she never says things with certainty unless that certainty is absolute, only hedges it with the scientist's theories or her own opinions. It was a stark difference between her and Ikutsuki as leaders.
Still, based on what this Akechi shares, and believes - ]
There are a lot of people who've never noticed the Dark Hour, but it doesn't exist outside of that specific extra hour. We know the date it came into existence, actually. We also know Personas and Shadows existed before that, though not in such great numbers.
Either we're from different worlds with similar histories, or perhaps the Dark Hour and the Metaverse exist at the same time and neither of us ever found both.
[ Maybe that means they stop the Dark Hour, if no one else is mentioning it. ]
[ That's an interesting theory. If he adds the third person -
Someone who visited the Metaverse through a television - it's impossible to parse what may or may not exist at once, in tandem or realities apart with only a vague relation. ]
It's a curious matter. One I'm deeply concerned about - if they all exist at the same time, that's two different ways someone can operate outside of society's rules and do untold damage.
I get the concern, though there's plenty of ways to operate outside of society's rules that don't involve time or cognitive manipulation.
[ Those are big words for Akihiko, but it's clear he's heard them before. He's also thinking of Kirijo group; how Takeharu-san's father had been the one to conduct the experiment that created the Dark Hour, and with all his money and power, no one had stopped him until people died. ]
Still, it's exactly as you said - it causes untold damage. We've actually had people use the Dark Hour to move about and hurt people before.

[ He wants to review this with others later. ]
What I'm curious about your persona and how it manifested for you. Can you explain that to me?
no subject
It didn't, for me. I used my Evoker - the item I was carrying with me that looked like a gun - to summon it the first time. I was given that as part of the group I joined.

I see. And that group is?
no subject
[ He's being a little more open with this because he's seen Akechi's persona. ]
It's styled as a school club, but it's sanctioned by a research team to exterminate shadows, and investigate the Dark Hour.

A research team lines up with the assortment of information he got out of Shinjiro a couple months ago. It also-
Lines up with his own connections. He's not a fan of that. ]
It shouldn't surprise me that the weight of such a task was put on the shoulders of high schoolers.
How long have you been doing this for?

You're not the first person to mention something like that. Does your Metaverse always exist?
I've never not summoned it with the Evoker, so yes. The only times I've seen a Persona show up without one was to attack their user.

A what.
That bizarre Metaverse cat has one - Mona. He's come to terms with that. If there's another with it- ]
My apologies - before I address your other question, I have one of my own.
An animal?
no subject
He experienced the Dark Hour as we did, and defended his deceased owner's shrine from a Shadow attack.
no subject
What a joke. ]
Incredible. A dog truly is man's best friend, as they say. To think an animal's will rivals a human in such a way...
It's fortunate you found your way to him. It could be dangerous to let an animal roam that 'dark hour' with such an ability.

[ A sad ending to an already sad story.
He circles back around, however. ]
You haven't answered my question about the Metaverse.
